Whitby Sixth Form News
It has been a really busy term for all of the team at the new Sixth Form site. The final bits of decorating and ‘snagging’ after our building work in the summer were very quickly finished in September and everyone, staff and students alike, is now well and truly settled into our new accommodation.
There is a wonderful, calm and purposeful atmosphere around the site; this can only auger well for good A-level/BTEC results next summer and for healthy recruitment into next year’s Year 12.
It has been a particularly busy term for Year 13, with many students applying to university. To date, nearly 50 students have applied to universities across the country, for courses as diverse as medicine, business management, politics, history, primary education, nursing, midwifery, drama and engineering to name just a few. Several students have already been for interviews and/or received offers from the universities to which they have applied.
Our careers advice and UCAS support is very much part of the ‘wrap around care’ at Whitby Sixth Form. It is fantastic to see such talented young people taking their next step into an exciting future. It is not just about university of course; other students are being helped to pursue routes into an apprenticeship or directly into employment. Over the coming months, no matter what each student’s plan is, we will be working hard to support them to achieve the qualifications they need to progress onto their chosen option.
There are a number of important dates coming up next term for all Sixth Form year groups that we would draw your attention to:
- Early January - Year 13 trial examinations/external examinations
- Thursday 30 January - Year 12/13 Parents’ Evening/UCAS Information Evening.
We look forward to welcoming you onto the Whitby Sixth Form site in late January.
