North Yorkshire Youth Commission (NYYC)
As you may know, the North Yorkshire Youth Commission (NYYC) is funded by the Police, Fire, and Crime Commissioner and delivered by Leaders Unlocked. The Youth Commission is a heavily youth-led project and provides a platform for young people to influence crime and policing strategy on a range of issues across North Yorkshire.
I’m pleased to say we are currently recruiting a number of new commissioners to the team and feel this may be a great opportunity for a young person at Caedmon College or Whitby Sixth Form.
The requirements are:
- 14- 25 years of age
- Living in North Yorkshire
- Named Professional or organisation that would support their application
- Parent/ Guardian consent (if under 18)
We are particularly seeking applicants from young people who are passionate about their community and will really benefit from joining the commission, including under-represented groups, members of BAME communities and those with lived experience of criminal justice or children in care.
I’m keen to stress that lots of training and support will be offered throughout the program, so no previous experience of similar projects is required.
Please see attached the application form, consent form and guidance notes. Additionally, please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you are interested or would just like to know more about the Youth Commission’s work.
The Youth Commission is also still running peer-led workshops via Zoom. These are a great opportunity for young people to take part in the ‘Big Conversation’ and have their voices heard.
Throughout February and March, we will be delivering workshops on ‘Drugs and Alcohol abuse’ and ‘Mental Health’ - If you are interested in these please do get in touch with some prospective dates or to ask for more information or click here.
