Coronavirus Update - 17 March 2020

As the Covid-19 outbreak continues, the government continues to develop its response.

At the time of writing, the expectation is that schools remain open. Moving forward, we will continue to be advised by the Government, Public Health England and the Local Authority as to the most appropriate course of action to take.

Virtually all of our teaching staff are present today and all lessons are running as normal. We anticipate that this will remain the case for the rest of the week and beyond. Other schools may have to take different courses of action, at times over the coming days - for example, if staffing levels drop to a point where they need to consider full or partial closure. However, this is not the case at Caedmon College or Whitby Sixth Form at the moment, and therefore we remain open.

If your child is feeling unwell, please refer to the relevant government website for the latest advice.

Please contact us in the usual way if your child is ill and needs to be absent from the College. We will be reiterating to staff and students that thorough and regular handwashing is an important part of personal protection against contracting the virus.

We will continue to keep you informed as this situation develops over the coming days. Please refer to our website and social media feeds for more information, as and when it becomes available. Thank you to the nearly 70% of parents who have downloaded the MyEd app onto their mobile phone. This is by far the easiest way of us alerting you to new information during these uncertain times. If you haven't already downloaded the app, I would strongly recommend this to you.

Yours sincerely

Simon Riley
