Y11 ‘An Inspector Calls’ Trip
As part of your son/daughter’s GCSE English literature course he/she has been studying the play, ‘An Inspector Calls’. The National Theatre’s acclaimed West End production of this play is touring the country and we have booked a limited number of tickets for a performance at the Sunderland Empire. Seeing this fantastic performance will be a stimulating, exciting experience. Not only will the live performance be enriching, it will also mean that students are much better-equipped to write about the play - a compulsory part of their GCSE course.
The date for the trip is Wednesday 22 April 2020. The performance is in the afternoon (matinee) and begins at 2.30pm. As such, students will be leaving Caedmon College, Normanby site, at approximately 11.30am. They will travel to Sunderland by coach.
We are planning to have a lunch break at MacDonald’s en-route, prior to the performance. There may be occasions during this refreshment break when your son/daughter will be out of the direct sight of a member of College staff. They will, however, have access to staff at designated meeting points and will be equipped with staff mobile phone numbers in case of emergencies. This is classed as “remote supervision”. Students will be required to remain in small groups whilst they go in for food. Alternatively, students can bring their own food to eat on the coach. If students choose not to bring food with them, they will need money for food and drinks. On our return, students will need to make their own way home from the Normanby site, or be collected (Please indicate this on the reply slip).
We will be leaving the theatre at approximately 4.30pm and hope to return to the College by 6.00pm.
As the performance is a matinee, students are required to wear school uniform and are advised to bring a suitable coat. The cost of the trip is £23.00. A £5.00 deposit, paid by Friday 25 October, will secure a place on the trip, or the full contribution can be paid straight away.
Please return the reply slip attached before Friday 25 October, can you also confirm that you have made arrangements for collecting your son/daughter, or that they are making their own way home on their return.
If you require any further information please, do not hesitate to contact me at the College.
